The spring season of lunchtime concerts at a Hinckley town centre church continues with a concert featuring a Leicester-based Japanese pianist.
Mariko Terashi's Hinckley Debut
Mariko Terashi makes her Hinckley debut on Wednesday, May 6, with a concert of light classical piano music including pieces by Scarlatti, J S Bach and Chopin. Mariko studied piano in Paris, France, where she was awarded the Cziffra Foundation Award. Since moving to the UK from France in 1995, she regularly appears on the concert platform as a soloist and chamber musician. She has performed in Spain, appearing on Spanish TV, and collaborates regularly with the Polish Orchestra Vita Activa. She has recently played a full Chopin programme for Polish Heritage days at the New Walk Museum in Leicester and has released three CDs featuring music by Chopin, Rameau, Seixas, Couperin, Elgar, Massenet and Rachmaninov.
Concert Details
Her concert for SMARTS (St Mary's Arts) is at St Mary's Church, Hinckley on Wednesday, May 6 starting at 1pm and lasting about 50 minutes. Her programme will include six short sonatas by Scarlatti, the Prelude and Fugue in A Minor by J S Bach and end with the well-known Fantasie Impromptu by Chopin.
Admission and Refreshments
Admission on the door is £4.50 for adults and £1 for students and children, cash only please. Refreshments are available in the church coffee bar before the concert.
