Music in the Mead Concert Series Returns to Hinckley in 2026

The beloved Music in the Mead series of concerts will make a highly anticipated return to Argents Mead in Hinckley in 2026. This summer event will feature a diverse lineup of acts performing across 10 dates from May to September, offering free afternoon entertainment for all ages.

Season Highlights and Performance Schedule

The season kicks off on May 9 with an Airborne special, featuring Julie Sings and Rob Wilson delivering a vintage-themed performance to coincide with the Airborne Plaque unveiling. This opening event will also include stilt walking by Mr Biggles, adding a unique visual element. On May 16, Julie Sings returns with her over-50s singing group for a heartfelt performance.

In June, the four-piece band The Alternatives will play indie and rock covers with a twist on June 13, followed by the BoomBox Betties on June 20, who promise a rock, emo, lounge, and pop mashup with medleys galore. July brings Beat Thieves performing pop and rock covers on July 4, and Charlotte Beaver taking the stage with live popular music on July 25.

August features the acoustic band Different Kettle of Fish playing an eclectic mix of covers and original songs on August 15, and Rachel Ball covering classic hits spanning the decades on August 22. September sees the Timepieces duo, Mike and David, performing classic interpretations of great hit songs on September 5, and the season closes on September 19 with the Arden Quintet, a brass band playing a repertoire of classic, pop, musical, and jazz tunes.

All performances will run from 1pm to 3pm, with a short interval in the middle, providing a perfect afternoon outing. Mark Bools, deputy leader of the Borough Council, expressed enthusiasm for the series, stating, "The Music in the Mead events always make for a great afternoon.
