Parbold Douglas Music has announced its 2026-2027 season of concerts, beginning on September 19, 2026, and running through June 19, 2027. The programme features international artists performing at The Venue at Parbold Village Hall in Parbold, West Lancashire.
Season Opens with Tango and Cinema Music
The season launches on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 7.45pm with the London Tango Quintet joined by guitarist Craig Ogden for an evening of tango music featured in films including Moulin Rouge and Last Tango in Paris. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 7.45pm, BBC Proms star and violinist Alena Baeva performs with pianist Joseph Havlat, presenting a programme focused on European folk music with pieces by Mozart and Bartok.
Educational Concerts for Local Children
On Friday, November 13, 2026, at 11.30am and 1.30pm, pianist Noriko Ogawa leads Pied Piper concerts specially designed for 400 local school children. The following evening, Saturday, November 14, at 7.45pm, Ogawa performs works by Brahms, Chopin, and Beethoven. The venue houses a Steinway concert grand piano that regularly attracts top performers.
Full Programme Through Summer 2027
The season continues with the Connaught Brass Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 7.45pm, featuring seasonal favourites by Vivaldi, Bach, and Tchaikovsky alongside festive standards. On Saturday, January 16, 2027, at 7.45pm, the Victoria String Quintet with pianist Martin Roscoe play Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4. On Saturday, February 13, 2027, at 7.45pm, celebrated international pianist Paul Lewis performs sonatas by Mozart and pieces by Mendelssohn and Aaron Copland. On Saturday, March 13, 2027, at 7.45pm, Harriet Mackenzie with the Celoniatus Ensemble play music including Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending. On Saturday, April 19, 2027, at 7.45pm, the Aquinas Piano Trio perform music by Bach, Mozart, and Saint-Saens. On Saturday, May 22, 2027, at 7.45pm, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet performs works including sonatas by Beethoven and Ravel’s La Valse. The season concludes on Saturday, June 19, 2027, at 7.45pm with Peter Donohoe performing Chopin’s Etudes plus works by Schubert and Schumann.

Run entirely by dedicated local volunteers, the charitable initiative has been bringing high-quality live music to the community since 1973.
