The final concert of the current season of lunchtime concerts at a Hinckley Town Centre Church will take place next month, featuring a performance by the trio Sounds of Splendour. This group of three talented musicians offers a unique blend of trumpet, voice, and piano, delighting audiences of all ages. The three friends draw on a wealth of collective experience and enjoy performing a repertoire that ranges from baroque to contemporary pop. With pieces arranged for various trumpets, soprano voice, and piano, the trio demonstrates their passion for making music together and enjoys breaking new ground; even the likes of Beyoncé and Coldplay receive the Sounds of Splendour treatment.
Meet the Musicians
Caroline Sharpe (Soprano) trained at Birmingham Conservatoire, completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Performance with distinction and winning the Mario Lanza Opera prize. She performs as a soloist with choral societies around the Midlands. Andy Harris (Trumpets) played principal trumpet in the Leicestershire Arts Symphony Orchestra before studying at Birmingham Conservatoire. He recently completed a Master's degree in Music Performance at Sheffield University, earning a Distinction. He has enjoyed a varied career playing a range of pop and classical music. Fergus Black (piano) was born in Scotland and after taking his degree at St. Andrews University, studied music in the USA at the University of Pennsylvania and at UCLA.
Concert Programme and Details
Their programme, titled Summer Treats, runs from Bach to Beyoncé, including 'Let the Bright Seraphim' by Handel, 'Song to the Moon' by Dvořák, 'Czardas' by Vittorio Monti, and 'Crazy in Love' by Beyoncé. The concert for SMARTS (St. Mary's Arts) will be held at St. Mary's Church, Hinckley on Wednesday, June 3, starting at 1pm and lasting approximately 50 minutes. Admission on the door is £4.50 for adults and £1 for students and children, cash only please. Refreshments are available in the church coffee bar before the concert.
