The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has announced the return of its Annual Steam Gala, a four-day celebration scheduled for September 24-27, 2026. The event will feature iconic visiting locomotives, frozen ticket prices for local families, and a packed timetable of scenic journeys through the North York Moors National Park.
Iconic Locomotives and Family-Friendly Activities
Among the guest locomotives confirmed to take to the tracks are the famous 'Sir Nigel Gresley', 'Pendennis Castle', and No. 563. The event will also include a delicious barbecue at Grosmont, a lively beer festival, and local shuttle services, ensuring a full experience for visitors of all ages.
Day tickets start from £49.50, with a Kids Go Free offer, making it an accessible day out for families. Open tea rooms and special railway shops will also be available, adding to the traditional railway atmosphere.

For those unable to attend the main event, the railway will run special service journeys featuring legendary engines throughout October. These services offer another opportunity to experience the historic locomotives in action.
