Tesco has joined forces with the RAC to give away 1 million Clubcard points, offering 10 lucky customers the chance to win 100,000 points each. The prize is available to shoppers who use their Clubcard points to take out a breakdown policy with the RAC between August 3 and 31.
How the prize draw works
Shoppers will be automatically entered into the competition when they convert their Tesco Clubcard points into a Clubcard code for RAC Breakdown Cover during the promotional period. Each winner will receive 100,000 Clubcard points, which equates to £1,000 to spend at Tesco or with Clubcard partners on activities such as eating out, holidays, or family days out.
The offer means that customers can potentially get breakdown cover for free if they have enough points, and they could also win additional savings. Every 50p in points is worth £1 to spend with the RAC, and those who do not have enough points for the cover they want can top up using a debit or credit card.
RAC and Tesco comment on the promotion
Andy Baker, CEO of RAC Consumer Roadside, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Tesco to be able to offer drivers the chance not only to get their breakdown cover with Tesco Clubcard points, but to win big too. With the cost of fuel rising once again, drivers will be looking for ways to keep costs down. At a time when money is tight for many, using Tesco Clubcard points is a great way to get essential RAC Breakdown Cover at great value, as well as being in with a chance to win £1,000 worth of points.”
RAC members can also save up to £200 on fuel, tyres, servicing and more through the myRAC app. The promotion comes as Tesco faces competition from other supermarkets with loyalty schemes, such as Sainsbury's Nectar card, as well as Asda, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl.
Impact for shoppers
This initiative provides an opportunity for Tesco Clubcard holders to obtain breakdown cover while potentially winning a substantial reward. With the cost of living pressures, the chance to win £1,000 in points could offer significant relief for winners, allowing them to spend on everyday essentials or leisure activities. The partnership between Tesco and the RAC is set to run until August 31, giving shoppers a limited window to participate.
