The opening episode of The Masked Singer UK's seventh series delivered a major surprise, as the first celebrity was dramatically unmasked, leaving the panel and viewers at home completely stunned.
Disc Jockey Sent Home in First Elimination
Hosted by Joel Dommett, the hit ITV guessing game returned on 3rd January 2026 with a fresh roster of twelve mysterious contestants. After the initial performances, Gargoyle and Disc Jockey found themselves in the bottom two. Panellists Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross, and Maya Jama made the decision to save Gargoyle, sending Disc Jockey home and triggering the first unmasking of the series.
Alex Jones Revealed Behind the Costume
When the elaborate Disc Jockey helmet was removed, it revealed BBC The One Show presenter Alex Jones. Jones, who had performed Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan, described the experience as the 'most bizarre experience of my life' but said it was 'wonderful' to do it for her children, Edward, Kit, and Annie.
She delivered a sweet on-air message to them, stating: "This was for you, I hope you loved it."
Jones also explained how she concealed her recognisable Welsh accent during her performance, telling Dommett that you simply 'don't have an accent when you sing'.
Viewers React with Shock and Surprise
The revelation sent shockwaves through the audience, with many taking to social media to express their disbelief. One viewer wrote on X: "I would never have got Alex Jones." Another echoed the sentiment, posting: "I didn't get Alex Jones lol."
