World record-breaking beatboxer SK Shlomo will bring his five-star sell-out show, Shlomo’s Beatbox Adventure for Kids, to Heywood Civic on Saturday, October 3 at 2pm. The event offers a unique opportunity for audiences aged from 1 to 101 to join the sonic superhero in a world of funny sounds, brilliant noises, and cool music, all created with just a mouth and a mic.
A Sonic Superhero's Global Pedigree
SK Shlomo has performed and collaborated with legends including Bjork, Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, and Gorillaz, and has graced main stages at festivals like Glastonbury. The show is described as an interactive adventure where anybody can become one of the beatboxer's sidekicks, regardless of age or musical experience.
The performance takes place at Heywood Civic, located on LCpl Stephen Shaw MC Way, Heywood. Tickets are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis, with standard tickets at £8.93, lower-priced tickets at £7.88, and higher-priced tickets at £10.50, ensuring accessibility for all families.

The event is part of the Great Heywood Gathering: Arts and Wellbeing Festival, a community-curated arts festival running until August 23. Organized by Culture Co-op and partners, the festival spans two weeks across various indoor and outdoor venues in Heywood, featuring a range of community workshops, events, and activities, all free of charge.
Highlights include The Forest of Chimes, where participants can create handmade wind chimes in Queens Park, becoming part of an outdoor installation. Heywood Civic will host an immersive family experience with live performances and a sensory-friendly space. The festival culminates in a large intergenerational music-making event to celebrate Heywood, which organizers hope will become a new tradition.
Other Family-Friendly Events in the Area
In addition to the beatbox adventure, several other events cater to families. Voices in the Library takes place at Langley Library on Friday, August 28, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. This inclusive musical experience encourages children and families to sing together, promoting confidence, self-expression, and communication skills. No singing experience is needed, and no booking is required. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
A Children's Song-writing Workshop will be held at Langley Library on August 14, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Children will work together to write their own song celebrating their local area, with all materials provided. This free activity requires no booking and no musical experience.
