Mel C has revealed the light-hearted conversation she had with fellow Spice Girl Geri Halliwell after her bandmate arrived at her wedding wearing white. The singer laughed off the moment during an interview on Australian radio, explaining that while Geri's outfit sparked plenty of online discussion, there was never any real drama between the pair.
Geri's white dress sparks debate
Fans had questioned Geri's decision to wear a predominantly white floral dress to the Lake District ceremony last month, with some arguing that white should be reserved for the bride only. But Mel suggested anyone expecting a fallout was looking in the wrong place. Speaking about the outfit, she joked: "I did have a little chat with Geri because it is her favourite colour." She added: "She wears it every day. But she had a beautiful floral dress on and it was white, white... I did have a little giggle with her about that."
Wedding details and Spice Girls reunion
Melanie Chisholm married model Chris Dingwall at The Country House in Cumbria following an earlier legal ceremony in Australia. The celebration reunited much of the Spice Girls line-up, with Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, and Mel B all attending. One notable absence was Victoria Beckham, whose no-show fuelled speculation among some fans after she designed the bride's gown. Mel was quick to dismiss any suggestion of a rift, explaining Victoria's absence came down to an unavoidable scheduling conflict rather than a lack of support.
According to Mel, Victoria had travelled to New York with husband David Beckham, who was attending the FIFA World Cup final in his role as an ambassador. "Victoria was very disappointed to not be there," Mel said. "She was with David in New York and it was the football final." She continued by explaining Victoria had even tried to avoid the trip because football was not her biggest passion, but family commitments and David's official duties made attending unavoidable.
Victoria stays involved from afar
Despite being thousands of miles away, Victoria remained closely involved in the celebrations. Mel said the fashion designer stayed in touch throughout the day, messaging the bride and receiving photographs from the wedding, before the pair later caught up in Ibiza.
Spice Girls touches at the ceremony
The former Sporty Spice also shared a few behind-the-scenes details from the ceremony itself, revealing she deliberately included several nods to the group's chart-topping career. Songs by the Spice Girls featured on the wedding playlist, while she and Chris walked back up the aisle to a rendition of the band's hit '2 Become 1'.
Mel C's love story with Chris
The wedding marked a new chapter for Mel after finding love with Chris, whom she met on the celebrity dating app Raya in 2023. In an interview with Vogue, she previously described their connection as immediate, recalling how the pair first met in Australia. "I was 49 when I met Chris and I was in a really good place," she said. "We had a date in Australia, and it's been difficult to separate us ever since."
Mel also reflected on how Chris became part of her family, explaining he had fitted seamlessly into life with her teenage daughter. Before meeting him, she admitted she had largely given up on the idea of romance following previous long-term relationships. Friends eventually persuaded her to download Raya during a night at the pub, turning the search for a partner into a game they jokingly nicknamed "boy Bingo."
A sentimental tribute in her gown
The bride also incorporated a sentimental tribute to the couple's Australian legal ceremony into her gown, with the words "Sydney" and the date of their marriage embroidered inside the dress as her "something blue."
