More families than ever before are choosing Hogarth Primary School for their children in Brentwood. As places for Reception classes for September are allocated, the school is thrilled to have received more first-choice applications than in previous years.
For the first time, the school is filling its Reception class with almost all of its families having put the school at the top of their list of four options. With a published admission number (PAN) of 30, the school received 27 first-choice applications this year, compared to 22 last year. In total, 98 families listed Hogarth as one of their four school choices, compared to 74 last year.
The school has been on a journey of transformation over the last three years, going from an Ofsted rating of Requires Improvement to last year receiving Outstanding and Good gradings from inspectors.
Headteacher Rob Watson said: 'Our first-choice admissions numbers are up once again. Everything we are doing is making a big difference to our families and the school's reputation. The name and brand are changing to one where people trust the school and trust us. We are constantly striving to see what else we can provide for our children.'
'We sit alongside Outstanding schools in Brentwood. So, it makes this a really positive place to be when everyone is here because they have picked us as their first choice. Everyone who is here wants to be here. This is really positive. All of the hard work we have put in over the last three years, and going above and beyond, is paying off. It is a proud moment to know we are full.'
The new cohort of parents was welcomed to the school community with phone calls.
