Almost a quarter of sixth formers leaving St John Payne Catholic School are heading for Russell Group universities. Year 13 students returned to the school in Chelmsford to collect their A-level and vocational results yesterday after the summer's exams.
A total of 24% of the cohort are moving on to the country's top universities to study further, according to the school.
High Achievers at St John Payne
Among the high achievers this year are Isaac Gardner, who achieved grade A* in chemistry, maths, further maths and physics; Joshua Ejimofor, who collected grade A* in business, economics and maths; and Rianna Archer with an A* in psychology and a grade A in biology, chemistry, philosophy and ethics.
Also recognised were Sean Adrada, who achieved grade A in biology, chemistry and computer science; Kene Ezeoke, who collected grade A* in maths, a grade A in computer science and physics; and Daniel Danykiv, with a grade A in computer science and economics and a grade B in business.
Lola Lawless-Thane achieved a grade A in biology and chemistry, and a grade B in psychology; Georgia Matthews collected a grade A* in English literature, a grade A in philosophy and ethics and a grade B in history; and Adam Scott achieved a grade A in economics and maths, and a grade B in biology.
Headteacher Comments on Results
Headteacher Tom Coen said: "We are delighted that the vast majority of our students have secured their first-choice university course, with a number also progressing to degree apprenticeships. It is especially pleasing that our inclusive approach and commitment to maintaining a broad curriculum, including a range of vocational courses, continues to provide opportunities for a growing number of students."
He added: "We are proud, as ever, to have played a part in their education throughout their time with us, working in partnership with their families to support them to become rounded, responsible and caring young adults - aware of their place in society and their responsibility to it. We thank them all for their contribution to our school community, and wish them every future happiness and success."
The results reflect the school's ongoing commitment to academic excellence and vocational education, ensuring students are well-prepared for higher education and apprenticeships.
