Triplets Amy, Nina and Ruby Moylan, 18, from Braintree, are preparing to go their separate ways for the first time in their lives after collecting their A-level results from Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form yesterday. Each studied different subjects and will now attend different universities across the country.
Amy's Path to Durham
Amy achieved an A in maths and English and a B in history. She will study history and economics at Durham University. Reflecting on the separation, she said: "It will be different not being together as we are all doing very different things. I will miss the company as we normally spend all day together."
Amy added: "We do have different jobs already, so we don't tend to see each other as much at weekends. We will Facetime each other and go back home at the same time."
Nina's Science Ambitions at Bath
Nina collected an A in biology, chemistry, English language and EPQ. She will study biochemistry at Bath University, with ambitions of working in science or film. She said: "I am excited to do something on my own and to gain a bit of individuality. We will be on phone calls to each other five times a day, though!"
Nina added: "We are best friends. It will be scary being apart, but fun."
Ruby's Literary Future at UCL
Ruby earned an A* in history and an A in religious studies and English literature. She will study English literature and language at UCL, aiming for a career in publishing. She said: "I am excited to be my own person, but at the same time, learning to be a new person. We have been together forever. At times, that is frustrating, but we have built-in best friends."
Meanwhile, budding scientist Oscar, 18, from Black Notley, collected top A* grades in biology, chemistry, maths and EPQ from Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form. He is heading to Cambridge University to study natural sciences, driven by a concern for the planet's future.
Oscar's Environmental Drive
Oscar said: "I am so pleasantly surprised with my results. I would like to do something chemistry-related in medicine or maths for sustainable development. I feel if I do not work in that industry, I will not have a planet to live on."
He credited his teachers: "I have had the most fantastic teachers; I cannot thank them enough. They have definitely been one of the main driving factors here to help me along the way. They supported me with my university application and did mock interviews with me. I feel like I owe it all to them."
Charlie's Engineering Path at Warwick
In other results, Charlie Alldis, 18, from Braintree, collected an A* in maths and further maths, an A in physics and a B in economics. He will study for a Masters in engineering at Warwick University, with ambitions of going into engineering or banking.
Charlie praised his teachers: "My teachers have gone above and beyond. They have given so much of their free time to help me when I needed it. It has been incredible. I could not have got these results without them."
These students are among many across Braintree celebrating their A-level achievements, with support from teachers at Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form.
