Year 11 students at Chase High School in Westcliff-on-Sea have marked the end of their GCSE exams with a series of celebratory events, including a leavers' assembly, barbecue, and prom. The festivities provided an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on five years of secondary education and the accomplishments of the cohort.
Leavers' Assembly and Barbecue
The leavers' assembly allowed students and teachers to share memories and acknowledge the experiences and successes gained during their time at the school. Following the assembly, a barbecue was held where friends signed each other's shirts as keepsakes and recorded video messages for their teachers, expressing gratitude and recalling favorite moments.
Prom at Saxon Hall
The celebrations concluded with a prom at Saxon Hall. Richard Baxter, head of year 11, described the cohort as 'truly remarkable,' highlighting their achievements, resilience, and character. He noted that students arrived looking exceptionally smart and conducted themselves with maturity, respect, and pride throughout the event.
Baxter added: 'Their behaviour, attitude and interactions with one another were exemplary and reflected the values that the school seeks to develop in all young people. The evening was filled with laughter, dancing and celebration, providing students with lasting memories as they prepare for the next stage of their education and future careers.'
Staff Pride and Community Spirit
Staff expressed immense pride in the confidence, kindness, and maturity displayed by the cohort, many of whom overcame significant challenges during their school years. The events highlighted not only the students' achievements but also the strong sense of community within the school. Baxter concluded: 'We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to hearing about their future successes.'
