West Bromwich Albion have expressed their devastation following the death of former midfielder Quevin Castro at the age of 25. The Championship club released a statement confirming the news, offering condolences to Castro's family and friends.
Castro, who joined West Brom's academy in 2019, made his senior debut for the club in August 2021. He went on to make three first-team appearances for the Baggies, with his final outing coming in a Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal in December 2021.

In a statement published on their official website, West Brom said: "We are devastated to learn of the passing of former midfielder Quevin Castro at the age of 25. The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Quevin's family and friends at this incredibly sad time."
The club added that Castro would be remembered fondly by all who knew him at The Hawthorns, describing him as a "popular member of the squad" during his time with the club.
Career and loan spells
Castro, who was born in Birmingham, came through the youth ranks at West Brom before breaking into the first team. He had loan spells at non-league sides Kidderminster Harriers and Hereford during the 2021-22 season to gain senior experience.
After leaving West Brom in the summer of 2022, Castro joined League Two side Newport County. He later moved on to play for Aldershot Town in the National League, where he made a number of appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.

Newport County also paid tribute, stating they were "deeply saddened" to hear of Castro's passing. Aldershot Town described him as a "popular figure" and offered their condolences to his loved ones.
Castro's death has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and former teammates on social media, with many remembering him as a talented and well-liked individual. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
West Brom's next fixture is scheduled for Saturday, when they are due to face Coventry City at The Hawthorns. The club has not yet confirmed whether any tribute will be held before kick-off.
