Heatwave Definition
In order to be classed as a heatwave, temperatures must reach a certain threshold for three consecutive days. This threshold differs around the country, with places further north having a lower threshold than the likes of London and the south east, according to the Met Office. In the West Midlands, Worcestershire and Warwickshire, the temperature threshold is 27C, while in neighbouring Staffordshire and Shropshire, it is 26C. For parts of the southeast of England, the threshold is 28C, the highest in the country.
