Birmingham is set to experience its highest temperatures in 48 hours since the recent heatwave gripped the West Midlands. The mercury will climb to 33°C today and Friday, potentially reaching 34°C, with no immediate relief in sight, according to the Met Office.
Today's Forecast
The Met Office predicts: "Morning low cloud and fog will quickly disperse to leave a fine and sunny day. Feeling very warm or hot in the strong July sunshine, with light winds for all. Maximum temperature 34 °C." A warm and sunny evening will follow, with clear skies overnight but a risk of mist and fog patches. Minimum temperature is expected to be 15 °C.
Friday's Outlook
For Friday, the Met Office adds: "Early fog clearing to leave a hot and sunny day across the region. Light winds and high UV levels expected. A very warm evening and night to come too. Maximum temperature 35 °C."
Weekend and Beyond
The weekend will remain hot, with temperatures hovering between 29°C and 30°C on Saturday and Sunday. The heat is expected to persist, with at least 28°C until Wednesday. With England facing Norway in the World Cup on Saturday, fans are advised to seek venues with air conditioning.
The Met Office outlook for Saturday to Monday states: "Staying dry, sunny and very warm throughout. The wind picking up a little may just allow it to feel not quite as hot for most. Nights remaining warm."
