A free self-guided nature trail packed with outdoor fun and wildlife facts is now available for families across the region at the Druridge Bay reserve. The Wonderful Wildlife Summer Trail features ten stopping points around the 26-hectare reserve, each revealing fascinating details about local animals. Visitors can take part in an interactive quiz along the route and collect a free sticker at the end.
Trail Details and Café Discount
The trail runs from Monday, July 20 to August 30. Participants can also enjoy a 20% discount on prepared food and drink at the Lookout Café. The activity has been made possible thanks to funding raised by players of the People's Postcode Lottery. This initiative follows the lottery's recent support for a series of free Saturday wildlife walks and talks held at the site.
Wildlife and Conservation
The reserve offers opportunities to learn about local species ranging from red squirrels and roseate terns to rescued grey seals. Alex Lister, Northumberland Wildlife Trust Druridge Bay landscapes manager, said: "The Wonderful Wildlife Summer Trail is a great way for everybody to find out more about the 26-hectare reserve and all the resident wildlife that call it home. Even better, the Trail is free of charge, and we can offer a discount in the café thanks to players of the Postcode Lottery. Such generosity will ensure that more people will be able to discover more about the wonders of the natural world on their doorstep."
