Christopher's & The Peel, a hotel and restaurant in Tamworth, is calling on the community for support after a kitchen fire on June 11 left them unable to serve hot food. Manager Sarah Gill emphasized that every purchase, visit, and recommendation makes a difference as the independent business works to recover.
Fire and Immediate Impact
The fire broke out in the kitchen on June 11, with no reported injuries. Since then, the restaurant has been unable to offer hot meals, though cold food and the bar remain fully operational. The hotel itself was unaffected and continues to operate normally.
In a social media post, Gill wrote: "As many of you know, we’ve recently suffered a fire which has devastated our kitchen. At the moment, we simply can’t serve hot food, and to be completely honest, it’s left us in a really difficult position."
Appeal for Community Support
Gill stressed the restaurant's independence: "Christopher’s and The Peel Hotel aren’t part of a big chain. We’re a small, independent business, and like many hospitality businesses, we’re working incredibly hard just to keep going."
She added: "I’m not asking for sympathy, but I am asking for a little support. If you’ve ever enjoyed a meal with us, celebrated with us, stayed with us, had a coffee, a cocktail or simply popped in for a chat, we’d be so grateful if you could visit us over the coming weeks."
The restaurant is encouraging customers to come in for coffee, tea, pints, mocktails, wine, or simply to meet friends. Gill noted that even sharing the video appeal helps. "Every drink purchased, every visit, every recommendation and every share genuinely makes a difference right now," she said.
Determination to Reopen Stronger
Despite the setback, Gill expressed determination: "We’ve put so much love into Christopher’s and The Peel, and we’re determined to get our kitchen back up and running and come back stronger than ever." She thanked those who have already shown support, saying it "means more than you’ll ever know."
