EDF Cuts Solar Panel Costs by £1,000 for UK Homes
EDF slashes solar panel costs by up to £1,000

Energy giant EDF has launched a significant new offer, providing UK households with a chance to dramatically reduce the upfront cost of installing solar panels and battery storage systems.

Substantial Savings on Solar and Battery Systems

The limited-time promotion, which runs until November 23, provides the largest saving of £1,000 on a 7kW and above solar and battery system. This package, typically priced at £10,095, includes 15-16 solar panels, a 7kW inverter, and a 5.32kW battery, making it suitable for a typical three to four-bedroom home.

For those with different energy needs, EDF is also offering a £750 reduction on 5-6kW systems, which usually start from £8,995, and a £500 discount on smaller 2-4kW systems, with prices beginning at £7,395.

Slashing Bills and Carbon Footprints

Beyond the initial installation savings, EDF highlights the substantial long-term benefits for homeowners. The company states that the 7kW system could deliver savings of up to £1,825 on energy bills in the first year alone.

The environmental impact is equally impressive, with an estimated reduction of 1.6 tonnes of carbon emissions—a saving equivalent to the emissions from a return flight from London to Los Angeles.

Even the smaller 2kW system, comprising 4-5 panels, offers considerable advantages, potentially saving households £733 on electricity bills and cutting 500kg of carbon emissions in its first year of operation.

Expert Commentary and Additional Tariff Benefits

Philippe Commaret, Managing Director of Customers at EDF, commented on the initiative, stating, “We know many households are looking for practical ways to lower energy costs and their environmental impact. Installing solar panels and battery storage is one of the most effective ways to achieve both.”

New customers who purchase a system can also benefit from EDF’s Empower Exclusive tariff, which could further reduce an average electricity bill by £800. This specialised tariff provides three hours of discounted, zero-carbon electricity every day between 1 am and 4 am and includes no standing charge for a full year.

With less than a fortnight remaining to take advantage of these offers, households across the UK have a narrow window to invest in renewable energy technology that promises significant financial and environmental returns.
