Octopus Energy Unveils Revolutionary Heat Pump Performance Dashboard

Octopus Energy has made a groundbreaking announcement with the launch of its new Cosy performance hub, a tool that displays current and year-long data from every installed Cosy heat pump. This innovative dashboard is set to benefit customers significantly, with many already experiencing substantial financial savings.

Substantial Savings for Homeowners

According to the data released, four out of five Cosy heat pump owners paid less to heat their homes over the past year compared to using a gas boiler. The average saving reported is an impressive £219, highlighting the cost-effectiveness of this renewable energy technology.

Greg Jackson, CEO and Founder of Octopus Energy, emphasized the importance of this development. "We're launching this revolutionary data dashboard to prove, in perpetuity, that heat pumps cost less to run than a gas boiler," he stated. "This isn't a projection or a lab test – it's daily data from thousands of homes. We are showing the world that our Cosy tech can beat the boiler in efficiency, slash bills, and lead the charge to a cleaner, cheaper energy system."

Transparency in the Face of Misinformation

Branded as a "revolutionary new tool", the Cosy Heat Pump Fleet Performance Dashboard streams up-to-date efficiency and cost data from all Cosy heat pumps installed in thousands of real British homes. Octopus Energy claims this provides total transparency, countering ongoing misinformation from fossil fuel lobbyists.

The dashboard collects anonymised aggregate data, revealing that over the last month, Cosy systems generated over 4 kWh of heat for every 1 kWh unit of energy input, achieving a COP (Coefficient of Performance) efficiency rating of 4.11. In comparison, gas boilers typically have a COP of around 0.85, meaning Octopus's heat pumps operate at approximately 4.7 times the efficiency of traditional gas boilers.

Advanced Features and Regional Insights

Octopus Energy's award-winning Cosy heat pump includes multiple sensors that measure temperature and humidity, enabling a more comfortable home environment. The energy provider, which competes with major companies like EDF, EON, Ovo, and British Gas, offers optional remote servicing to maintain systems in top condition without the need for annual service visits.

Additionally, wireless software updates are provided to enhance comfort, control, and efficiency even after installation. The new dashboard also allows users to explore regional data, showing exactly how much heat is delivered for every kWh of energy used to power the Cosy fleet across Great Britain.

This launch represents a significant step forward in promoting renewable energy solutions and providing consumers with clear, evidence-based information to make informed decisions about their home heating systems.
