Twelfth Consecutive Green Flag for Brinsley Headstocks
The Friends of Brinsley Headstocks, in partnership with Broxtowe Borough Council, have once again secured the prestigious Community Green Flag award for the Brinsley Headstocks Nature and Heritage Reserve. This marks the twelfth consecutive year the site has received this honour, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Green Flag Award Scheme, an internationally recognised standard for parks and green spaces.
Ongoing Restoration and Future Plans
Over the past 12 months, restoration work at the former Brinsley Colliery site has continued. Work is expected to start soon on rebuilding the timber headstocks, which give the site its name. The Friends group expressed pride in the achievement, stating, "This award reflects the dedication of our volunteers and the support of the community."
