Greener Lifestyle Limited, a waste company operating from Trent Street in Digbeth, Birmingham, has been fined £10,000 and ordered to pay £13,796.50 in costs and victim surcharge after pleading guilty to three charges at Birmingham Magistrates Court on September 14, 2025. The court also issued a Remediation Order requiring the company to remove all waste from the site within six months.
Investigation and Non-Compliance
The Environment Agency began an investigation into Greener Lifestyle Limited in May 2025. Inspectors found the company was not complying with the conditions of its waste exemptions and was subsequently de-registered. Despite this, the firm continued to accept further waste and was formally ordered to stop operations, but the volume of waste on site continued to increase.
The prosecution followed repeated failures to comply with environmental permit regulations and formal notices to cease waste operations. The company faced three charges at Birmingham Magistrates Court, to which it pleaded guilty.
Court Penalties and Remediation Order
The court imposed a fine of £10,000, ordered the company to pay costs of £11,796.50, and a victim surcharge of £2,000. In addition, the Remediation Order requires Greener Lifestyle Limited to clear all waste from the Trent Street site within six months.
This case highlights the legal consequences for waste operators who ignore regulatory requirements. The total financial penalty amounts to £23,796.50, plus the mandatory site clearance.

Lines added: "By securing a Remediation Order this will help ensure that the environmental issues at the site are addressed. We will continue to work to protect communities, support legitimate businesses and take action where waste crime threatens the environment."
