In a significant move for sustainable urban travel, two of London's fastest-growing innovators have joined forces. Octopus Energy is now the official energy partner for Forest, London's most sustainable e-bike operator. The partnership ensures that all 20,000 bikes in Forest's London fleet are powered exclusively by zero-carbon electricity.
A Partnership Driving Greener Commutes
The collaboration, effective from December 2025, represents a major step in decarbonising city transport. Both companies were founded in London and have seen remarkable growth; Octopus Energy became the UK's largest energy retailer in just a decade, while Forest has established itself as a leader in eco-friendly urban mobility.
As part of the deal, Octopus Energy's 8,500 UK employees will gain access to Forest's Cycle to Work scheme. This offers them 30 hours of ride time and unlimited free unlocks for a monthly cost of just £28.80. Furthermore, to encourage wider adoption, one million members of Octopus's reward scheme, Octoplus, will receive 30 minutes of free ride time when they download the Forest app.
Accelerating Record-Breaking Growth
The alliance comes during a period of sustained demand for e-bikes. Forest has reported multiple record-breaking months in 2025, with riders covering an astonishing over 47 million kilometres. This distance is equivalent to cycling around the Earth approximately 1,100 times and has saved more than 2,160 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Forest's new relationship with Octopus Energy will be instrumental in helping the business continue its rapid expansion responsibly. It also directly supports Forest's ambitious goal of achieving net-zero operations by 2030.
Leadership United by a Sustainable Vision
Agustin Guilisasti, Founder and CEO of Forest, commented on the partnership's significance. "Sustainability has been central to Forest since day one," he said. "We've always powered our fleet with zero-carbon energy, but this partnership with Octopus Energy marks a major milestone. As our official energy provider, Octopus will play a crucial role in accelerating our sustainability journey."
Greg Jackson, Founder and CEO of Octopus Energy, expressed his personal enthusiasm for the deal. "For anyone that has ever spotted me on my way to a meeting, you'll know that e-bikes are far and away my favourite way to get around London," Jackson stated. "I could not be happier that we're now powering Forest Bikes – bringing even more clean, green ways to travel to people across the city."
The partnership underscores a shared commitment from two London-born companies to make sustainable transport not only accessible and affordable but also a genuinely green choice for everyone in the capital.
