Staffordshire Dad's Hilarious Tumble After Deer 'Big Trev' Charges at Him
In a comical and unexpected incident, a Staffordshire father took a painful tumble outside his home after being charged by a deer he affectionately calls 'Big Trev'. The event, captured on video, shows Andrew Price, 58, from Cannock, falling back through his front door as the stag aggressively approached him.
The Misunderstood Gesture That Led to Chaos
Andrew Price, a retired auto-electrician and grandfather-of-one, had been trying to leave some water out for the deer, which has been visiting his road near Cannock Chase for the past couple of years. On this particular Monday afternoon, however, the animal misinterpreted Andrew bending down as an act of aggression. In the footage, Andrew can be heard saying, 'I'll f***ing smash you' as the stag showed signs of hostility, followed by a shout of 'Ooh f***ing hell' as he fell.
Off-camera, Andrew exclaimed about losing his flip-flop, which he believes caused his fall. He crashed into a radiator but was not seriously injured. Reflecting on the incident, Andrew said, 'I was just trying to leave some water out for him and this is how he repaid me. I think he saw me as a threat when I bent down, as deer often headbutt in such situations.'
A Familiar Visitor with an Unpredictable Side
Nicknamed 'Big Trevor' or 'Big Trev' by Andrew and his family, the deer has become a regular sight in the area. Andrew has even been able to hand-feed him on previous occasions, and the animal sometimes follows his electric car up the road. 'Usually, he's quite friendly,' Andrew explained, 'but this time we had a little run-in. I don't blame him too much; he was just acting on instinct.'
Daughter Chantelle Alabi added humorously, 'There's never a dull moment with my dad,' highlighting the light-hearted nature of the event despite the scare.
Community and Wildlife Interactions in Staffordshire
This incident underscores the unpredictable interactions between residents and local wildlife in areas like Cannock Chase, known for its deer population. While such encounters can be startling, they often become memorable stories shared within the community. Andrew's experience serves as a reminder to approach wildlife with caution, even when intentions are friendly.
In summary, Andrew Price's attempt to offer water to 'Big Trev' turned into a hilarious and slightly painful mishap, captured for all to see. The video has since garnered attention, bringing a smile to many while showcasing the quirky side of life in Staffordshire.
