Staff from the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Philip Hospital, along with their family and friends, recently came together to raise an impressive £2,530 to support patients receiving care within the unit.
Challenges undertaken
On April 18, members of the team climbed Pen y Fan in Bannau Brycheiniog, while others completed a swim challenge on April 9, covering the same distance in the pool. Staff on the unit said: "We have been inspired by everyone's generosity and determination, so we wanted to do something ourselves. We took on the challenge to raise funds that will continue to support patient needs within the unit."
It was very rewarding, a great team event, the weather was great with fantastic views. We would like to thank everyone who took part in these events and everyone who kindly donated.
Gratitude expressed
Katie Hancock, fundraising officer, said: "A huge well done and thank you to the staff, friends and family of the Chemotherapy Day Unit for getting together and taking on Pen y Fan and the swim for such a wonderful cause. The generous charitable donations we receive do not replace NHS funding."
Instead, they support additional items and activities outside core NHS expenditure. These small extras make a big difference, and we are so grateful for every donation we receive.
