Jeremy Clarkson has been praised for sharing his cancer diagnosis after revealing he has been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer during the latest series of Clarkson's Farm.
Emotional Revelation on the Show
The 66-year-old former Top Gear presenter broke the emotional news to his farm manager Kaleb Cooper and land agent Charlie Ireland in the fifth season of the Amazon Prime show. He was diagnosed last summer following medical tests in May.
"I've got cancer, I had a medical, remember, back in May? I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer, and it's aggressive," Clarkson told his team.
The TV star explained that 10 per cent of his prostate is affected by the cancer. Cooper was visibly upset by the news, saying "I don't like this," to which Clarkson replied: "I wasn't thrilled."
Early Detection and Optimism
However, Clarkson emphasised that doctors caught the cancer "really early". He said: "If I hadn't have got myself checked out and they hadn't caught the problem early, this could well have been my last harvest."
The presenter expressed optimism about his future, stating there's "every hope" he'll continue farming for "many, many years to come". The season shows him receiving treatment in hospital alongside dealing with a previous heart scare.
Uncertain Message to Fans
Clarkson ended the series with an uncertain message to viewers: "What I wanted to say was: if this is all successful, I'll see you for season six. And if it isn't, I won't."
Fans and colleagues have praised Clarkson for his openness about the diagnosis, highlighting the importance of early detection for prostate cancer.
