Llandeilo mart was filled to capacity as the local community rallied together for a bumper fundraising event, raising £12,600 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Glangwili Hospital. Hosted by livestock business Huw Evans Auctioneers, the afternoon transformed the familiar auction ring into a lively hub of local goodwill, featuring prizes and generous bidding.
Community Support for Chemotherapy Unit
For the auction team, the overwhelming turnout proved just how deeply the hospital unit touches the lives of families across the region. Reflecting on the success of the day, Huw Evans said: “It was very rewarding seeing the market full, bringing the community together to raise funds.”
Jessica Michael, senior sister at the Chemotherapy Day Unit, expressed gratitude: “On behalf of the staff and patients at the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Glangwili Hospital, I would like to thank you for your fundraising efforts resulting in a very generous donation of £12,600.”
Funds to Improve Patient Care
Michael added: “We are always looking at ways to improve the environment and improve the way we care for patients within the Chemotherapy Day Unit. Please be assured that this money will go towards this improvement. Thank you!”
Claire Rumble, fundraising officer, said: “What an incredible amount! Thank you so much to Huw Evans Auctioneers and everyone who supported the fundraiser for your generosity. The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
