Jerome Omesa, a clinical team leader at Cygnet Hospital Clifton in Nottingham, has won a top award for his work in bringing joy to the workplace. The 25-bed hospital supports men struggling with their mental health, and Omesa received 29 nominations for the Care (Joy in Work) award at the Cygnet Group achievement awards.

The awards, now in their fourth year, were held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham and hosted by TV presenter Alexander Armstrong. The event celebrates caring, dedicated, and hard-working colleagues across the health and social care sector.

Recognition for boosting morale

The nomination script highlighted Omesa's impact: "His presence always boosts morale and he is a unifying force on the ward. He is approachable and motivates staff to bring the best in them." It also noted his unwavering dedication to team morale and staff wellbeing, stating, "He does not just do his job; he actively creates a culture where everyone feels they belong."
