A woman from Wednesbury with stage four secondary breast cancer has described having 'nothing' after 'falling on hard times' and will be sleeping on a borrowed airbed when she moves into her new home.
Details of the Case
Nicki Titley, 45, split up with her partner of 20 years in 2025 and said she left her former home with 'a lot of clothes' but 'that was it.' She stayed with a friend for nine weeks before moving into temporary accommodation in Wednesbury.
Nicki, who also lives with type 2 diabetes, fibromyalgia, and hip dysplasia, is due to move into a social housing property in Pelsall on Monday. However, as the property is unfurnished, she will be sleeping on a borrowed airbed.
Financial Struggles and Health Battles
Nicki received her cancer diagnosis in 2021 and currently receives treatment from the Goscote Palliative Care Centre in Walsall. She said: 'It started as a lump in my breast, but by the time it was caught it had spread to my bones. I spend that much time at the hospital I know the names of each of the nurses in the chemo ward.'
The former sales administrator, who later took on caring responsibilities, is now unable to work. Relying on Universal Credit, she finds it 'hard to get hold' of the things she needs for her new ground-floor home, provided by WHG.
Call for Help
Nicki said: 'I need a lot of furniture, I've not got anything. I'm going from a furnished bedsit to an unfurnished flat with no bed or anything. My mom and dad are going to borrow me an airbed. I don't like asking for help but I can't see any other way around it.'
She has launched a GoFundMe page to raise the £1,300 she needs to 'start over.' Nicki wished to thank anyone who considered making a donation and said 'every little would help.'
