A 15-year-old boy has been charged after two teenagers were stabbed in Birmingham. Police were called to reports of a disorder in Grimley Road, West Heath, shortly before 4.45pm on Tuesday, August 25. Officers found two boys, aged 15 and 16, who had suffered stab wounds.
The pair were rushed to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. West Midlands Police has now charged a 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of a knife. He had been due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court earlier today.
Arrests and bail conditions
Three 16-year-olds, arrested following the incident, have been bailed with conditions as police enquiries continue. The force has also stepped up patrols in the area, using extra powers to prevent disorder and reassure the community.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We've charged a boy, 15, after two teenagers were injured in disorder in Birmingham. We were called to Grimley Road just before 4.45pm on Tuesday, where a 15-year-old boy was found after being stabbed. His injuries were not life-threatening and he is recovering. Another boy, 16, was found with stab injuries nearby and was taken to hospital."
Investigation and community reassurance
Detectives have launched an immediate investigation to establish the circumstances around what happened. The 15-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and has now been charged. He was due at Birmingham Magistrates' Court today.
