Parklands Care Home Hosts Inclusive Singing Sessions for Dementia in Caerphilly
Caerphilly Care Home Hosts Dementia-Friendly Singing Sessions

A Caerphilly care home is helping to bridge the gap between residential care and the wider community by launching a series of special singing and music gatherings. HC-One's Parklands Care Home is supporting the initiative, designed specifically for individuals living with dementia and their carers.

Creating a Safe and Welcoming Space

In partnership with the organisation Inside Out Cymru, Parklands will host relaxed and accessible sessions at Bedwas Workmen’s Hall. The primary aim is to provide a secure and supportive environment where attendees can enjoy music, forge connections, and build new friendships. The venue is fully equipped with wheelchair access and accessible restrooms, and free refreshments will be provided for everyone.

The Healing Power of Music for Dementia

Music is widely recognised for its significant role in supporting the wellbeing of people living with dementia. These gatherings offer a valuable opportunity for individuals and their families to come together, share an hour of joyful activity, and strengthen their sense of belonging within the local area. Amy Campbell, Home Manager at Parklands Care Home, emphasised the value of the project.

"These singing sessions are a wonderful way to bring people together," she said. "They provide a safe and welcoming space where our residents, their families, and the local community can enjoy music, share smiles, and maybe even make new friends. We’re really excited to see people coming along and taking part."
