Caremark Kirklees Awards 2025: Komal Rizwan Wins Top Honor

Almost 90 care workers have been recognised for the incredible difference they make to people living across Kirklees. Huddersfield company Caremark Kirklees recently held its fifth annual awards ceremony to celebrate its dedicated staff.

Awards Ceremony Highlights

The special morning event was attended by the new Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Karen Allison, who handed out the prizes. Customers were asked to put forward their favourite workers, resulting in the highest number of nominations in the event's history. Each nomination highlighted the daily kindness, patience, and reliability that helps people stay safe and independent in their own homes. There were also special awards given for long service and for staff chosen by the management team.

Care Assistant of the Year: Komal Rizwan

The winner of the overall Care Assistant of the Year award was Komal Rizwan, who received a record 12 nominations from the people she supports. Komal, who joined Caremark Kirklees in 2024, said: "I am truly honoured and grateful to have received this award, which means a great deal to me. Mayor's Remarks on the Value of Care

Councillor Karen Allison, Mayor of Kirklees, said: "What we saw at the awards is a powerful reminder of the difference that care makes, not just in practical terms, but in people’s lives every single day. Care is about so much more than the tasks you carry out." She continued: "It’s about kindness, patience, dignity and respect. It’s about being there for people, often at their most vulnerable, and helping them feel safe, valued and supported."

Company Leadership on Staff Appreciation

Company bosses Duncan and Fiona Smith stated that they love hearing the wonderful feedback given to their carers by customers every year. They explained that the event is vital for ensuring the team understands just how much their hard work in the community is appreciated.
