Worplesdon View Resident Ivy Celebrates 100th Birthday with Royal Telegram
Centenarian Ivy's Milestone Celebration at Worplesdon Care Home

Joyful celebrations filled Worplesdon View Care Home as resident Ivy reached the incredible milestone of her 100th birthday. The special occasion was marked with a royal message, a delicious cake, and the company of her fellow residents and sister.

A Royal Recognition and Family Celebration

Ivy was presented with a telegram from King Charles and Queen Camilla in honour of her centenary, a moment of great pride for all. She was joined in the festivities by her sister, Joan, who also lives at the Worplesdon View Care Home. The pair moved into the home together in 2020 and have been enjoying this new chapter side by side.

A Life Well-Lived: From Essex to Shoreditch

Originally from Essex, Ivy spent much of her life in Shoreditch. She has always been a sports enthusiast and remains a devoted fan of the legendary singer Frank Sinatra. To celebrate her landmark day, the care home's head chef, Stephen Oakley, prepared a delightful birthday cake which was enjoyed during a special meal in the home's private dining room.

The Secret to a Century of Happiness

Reflecting on her big day, Ivy said: "It has been a wonderful afternoon with everyone. Turning 100 is a big milestone. I don't know exactly what the secret is, but I have done something right. It is important to be happy and to be grateful. I am grateful to still have my sister here with me."

Nicola Orwin, General Manager of Barchester Worplesdon View Care Home, praised Ivy: "We're delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable woman as she reaches this amazing milestone. Ivy is such a lovely resident who always has a smile on her face and interesting stories to tell. We look forward to hearing many more as she breaks into her next century."
