With Father's Day approaching, St Clare Hospice is hosting a special bereavement workshop for children who have lost their dad. The Hearts Without Him workshop, taking place on Wednesday, May 27, has been designed to help children explore their feelings of grief and loss through guided activities, creative expression and gentle emotional support from St Clare's trained therapists and bereavement volunteers. The session aims to help young people feel less isolated during a time that can be especially difficult for bereaved families.
Addressing Father's Day Grief
Father's Day can often intensify feelings of sadness and loss for children whose dads have died. The workshop will encourage participants to share memories, celebrate the bond they had with their father and develop healthy coping strategies in a compassionate, safe and supportive setting.
Expert Insight
Family therapist Amanda Orange said: "Children experience grief very differently from adults, and occasions like Father's Day can bring powerful emotions to the surface. Workshops like Hearts Without Him give children permission to talk about their loss, remember their dad openly and realise they are not alone in their grief. Early emotional support can play a hugely important role in helping bereaved children process difficult feelings, build resilience and cope more positively over time."
Ongoing Commitment to Bereavement Support
The workshop forms part of St Clare Hospice's ongoing commitment to supporting families through bereavement and ensuring children receive the emotional care they need after the death of a loved one.
