A significant overnight fire at a commercial premises in Bloxwich, Walsall, prompted a large-scale emergency response and a public warning to stay away from the area.
Major Emergency Response to Newfield Close Blaze
West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) was first alerted to the incident at 7:18 pm on Sunday, December 14th. The fire, located at a business on Newfield Close, escalated rapidly, requiring an immediate and substantial deployment of resources.
Initially, seven fire crews were dispatched to the scene. Due to the intensity of the flames, the operation was quickly scaled up to involve a total of ten crews working to bring the blaze under control.
Public Warning and Overnight Firefighting
Given the severity of the situation, fire service officials took to social media to urgently advise local residents to "avoid the area" to allow emergency services to work unimpeded and to ensure public safety.
Firefighters battled the flames throughout the night. Their presence was confirmed to still be on-site at approximately 7 am the following morning, ensuring the fire was fully extinguished and the area made safe.
No Injuries Reported as Investigation Begins
Despite the scale of the fire, which saw crews using multiple appliances, a spokesperson for Staffordshire and West Midlands Fire Control confirmed the positive news that there were "no casualties" reported.
By Monday morning, good progress had allowed the response to be scaled back down to three fire engines. The focus now shifts to determining the cause of the fire, with both the fire service and local police beginning their investigations into the incident at the Bloxwich commercial property.
