A man was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries after a minibus struck a tree in West Bromwich on Tuesday morning (September 15). The collision occurred in Hollyhedge Road at approximately 5am.
West Midlands Ambulance Service crews discovered two injured men at the scene, both of whom had been passengers in the minibus. One man was transported to Midland Metropolitan Hospital for further treatment, while the second man received self-care advice from ambulance staff and was discharged at the scene.
Ambulance response and treatment
An ambulance, two paramedic officers and Hazardous Area Response Team paramedics were dispatched to the incident. A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called shortly before 5am to a road traffic collision involving a minibus and a tree on Hollyhedge Road in West Bromwich.”
“Upon arrival we found two men who were passengers in the minibus. The first man had sustained potentially serious injures. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital for further treatment. The second man had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. He received self-care advice from ambulance staff before being discharged at the scene.”
Traffic disruption and police presence
A social media user warned motorists to expect “very large queues” on the road shortly before 7am. They reported that a vehicle had “crashed into a tree” in the right-hand lane, approaching the traffic lights heading towards All Saints Way.
Police and a recovery truck were said to be in attendance at the scene. BirminghamLive has approached West Midlands Police for comment.
