56 Health Conditions Qualify Pensioners for £441 Monthly DWP Allowance

State Pensioners with 56 Health Conditions Can Claim £441 Monthly from DWP

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has disclosed a list of 56 health conditions that enable state pensioners to qualify for Attendance Allowance, providing a significant financial boost of up to £441 per month. This benefit is designed to assist older individuals with disabilities or serious health issues in maintaining their independence at home.

Attendance Allowance Payment Rates and Eligibility

Attendance Allowance is distributed at two distinct rates: the lower rate and the higher rate. The lower rate amounts to £73.90 per week and is available to those who require frequent help or supervision during the day or night. In contrast, the higher rate is set at £110.40 per week. Recipients of the higher rate can receive approximately £441.60 monthly, equating to around £5,300 annually, offering substantial support for additional living expenses.

Caroline Abrahams CBE, charity director at Age UK, emphasized the importance of this allowance, stating: "If you’re an older person living with a disability or serious health condition, you may be entitled to extra financial support to help you stay independent at home. Attendance Allowance is there to fund some of the extra costs that come along if you are an older person living with disability."

She further explained practical uses for the funds, noting: "For example, if you are successful in your claim, you could use Attendance Allowance to help with the extra costs of heating that many disabled people face or to meet the cost of a taxi to take you to a hospital appointment, or to visit a friend."
