British Gas has confirmed that over one million customers can enjoy half-price electricity every Sunday from 11am to 4pm through its PeakSave scheme. The offer applies automatically each week once customers join, and savings are calculated and credited to their accounts.
How PeakSave Sunday Works
Customers can use as much half-price electricity as they need during the four-hour window. British Gas calculates the savings and shows the PeakSave Sunday credit in the app and on the next bill or statement. Prepayment customers receive the credit added directly to their meter.
The company notes that electricity demand is typically lower on Sundays, making it an ideal time to use cleaner, greener energy. Participants also receive a monthly email summarising their total savings.
Impressive Savings and Environmental Impact
Since the scheme began, customers have saved over £36 million on electricity bills. More than 16,000 customers have individually saved over £100. PeakSavers have shifted 40,000 MWh of electricity to off-peak times, helping the grid run more efficiently and supporting greener energy.
So far, customers have cut 2,939 tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to taking 797 cars off the road for an entire year.

Customers have shared their strategies for making the most of PeakSave Sundays. Diane from Staffordshire said: "Sort the washing Saturday evening and marks set GO on Sunday morning! Early Sunday I take my dog to muddy fields then he gets a fragrant wash under our electric shower then a lovely lunch using oven while charging appliances for the week ahead!"
Helen in Dunbar commented: "All rechargeable units plugged in. Bedding & clothing washed. Ironing done. Two loaves done in bread maker these frozen for use during week. Joint of meat cooked in air fryer for Sunday dinner remainder used during week for salads & sarnies."
Russell in Chesterfield added: "My washing is always sorted and ready to go into the machine during PeakSave Sundays (not a minute wasted). I do some batch cooking & meal prep so our meals are ready for the coming week (double money-saver!). We also charge devices during this time."
