Who Qualifies for the £150 Payment?
The Warm Home Discount helps eligible customers cover high winter bills. There are two core groups: Core Group 1 includes those receiving the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit, and Core Group 2 covers customers on means-tested benefits. If you are in either group, you will receive a £150 credit into your energy account. To qualify in Core Group 1, you or your partner's name must be on the energy account and you must receive the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
How the Discount Is Applied
Energy suppliers such as Octopus are involved in the scheme. Octopus stated: "If we supply you for both electricity and gas as a dual fuel account, the WHD credit will be added to your credit energy account. If you have a gas account with a different energy supplier to your electricity, we will apply the payment to your electricity account." The payment may be applied as a credit directly to your meter if you are on Smart Pay As You Go, or through energy vouchers for traditional prepay meters. Vouchers will be sent by letter or, if you have a registered email, they will be emailed directly from Paypoint at noreply@paypoint.com.
