Stockport NHS Charity Launches Appeal for New Neonatal Incubator
Stockport NHS Charity has launched a vital fundraising appeal to acquire a new state-of-the-art incubator for Stepping Hill Hospital's neonatal team. This equipment will ensure newborn babies requiring extra support have the best possible environment at the start of their lives.
Fundraising Progress and Target
With over £29,780 already raised of the £47,500 needed, the charity is well over halfway towards its goal. However, an additional £17,700 is still required to make the purchase possible. The charity is now calling for more fundraisers to help meet the target.
Features of the Drager Babyleo TN500 Incubator
The Drager Babyleo TN500, also known as a resuscitaire, is designed to enhance care for poorly and premature babies. Key advantages include:
- Compact Size: Smaller than standard incubators, allowing it to function as a travel incubator for easier transportation to special units.
- Improved Access: Provides easier access for both parents and the midwifery team during transport.
- Low Noise Level: Minimises disturbance to support a calmer environment.
- Kangaroo Care Support: Facilitates skin-to-skin contact, enhancing the experience for both babies and parents.
Recent Fundraising Events
Two major events have significantly contributed to the total raised so far:
- Royal Nawaab Pyramid Royale Gala: Held late last year at the iconic restaurant, this spectacular evening raised over £28,000. It featured aerial performers, live music, special guests, and a star prize raffle, organised by restaurant owner Mahboob Hussain.
- Ealoor Harmony Night: In February, nursing consultancy Ealoor celebrated its 25th anniversary with an event at Wythenshawe Forum, honouring international nurses. The evening raised over £1,760 through musical entertainment.
Call for Community Support
Stockport NHS Charity is appealing for volunteers to organise fundraising events of all kinds. This includes:
- Individuals participating in runs or challenges.
- Businesses, community groups, and schools hosting 'Caring Cuppa Coffee Morning' events.
- Families who have received care from the Neonatal Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital to share their stories.
Kate Leadbeater, Stockport NHS Charity Manager, emphasised the importance of the appeal: "This amazing lifesaving machine helps our newborn baby's breath and keeps them warm. Please share in the care and help us continue providing life-saving support to our premature and critically ill babies by supporting today."
She added: "If your business, club, or school would like to get involved in some fun fundraising to support tiny lives, we would love to hear from you. We would also love to hear from families whose babies we have cared for in the Neonatal Unit at Stepping Hill Hospital."
