School's Response

In a message sent to parents, headteacher Miss Parker sent well wishes to the child in hospital. The statement added that the school is aware that some parents are feeling 'concerned' at the news.

Caregivers were assured that according to the UKHSA, no additional action was required while the case remained unconfirmed. Pupils have not been told to remain at home unless contacted by health professionals.

However, it is understood that some worried parents have kept their children off school today (Thursday, April 30) as a precaution. Information regarding confirmation of the case of meningitis is expected over the next couple of days.
