Swansea Farm's Crowdfunder Triples Donations to Boost Community Cooking
Swansea Farm's Crowdfunder Triples Every Donation

A unique community farm in Swansea, dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing, has launched an urgent fundraising appeal with a remarkable twist: every penny donated by the public will be tripled.

Triple Impact for a Vital Community Project

Swansea Community Farm, the only city farm in Wales, is running a Crowdfunder campaign to secure the future of its popular 'Coginio Ynghyd' (Cooking Together) project. Thanks to generous match funding from Swansea Mortgage Advice Bureau, every public donation will be multiplied by three. This means a £10 contribution becomes £30 for the farm, and £20 effectively turns into £60.

The funds are desperately needed to refresh the farm's training kitchen and continue offering free food skills sessions to people of all ages and backgrounds. The project is described as more than just a cooking class; it's a lifeline for those facing isolation, financial hardship, or a loss of confidence.

A Recipe for Confidence and Connection

The Cooking Together initiative provides a safe, supportive, and social environment where participants can connect, learn new skills, and share a meal. For many, it is a critical service. One volunteer revealed, "It's the only time in the week when I eat a proper meal." A young participant added, "If I didn't come to the farm, I wouldn't get to learn to cook."

Louise Watkins, communications and business support officer at the farm, emphasised the campaign's importance. "This tripling of donations is an incredible opportunity to help us make some vital updates to our facilities, reach more people and keep this project thriving," she said.

How the Community Can Help

The farm is calling on the public to get involved in any way they can. The money raised will support:

  • New kitchen equipment and venue costs.
  • Training for volunteers.
  • The development of new sessions to meet local demand.

The team urges people to donate, share the campaign link on social media, or simply spread the word. Every action, big or small, contributes to sustaining this vital community resource that transforms lives through connection with people, animals, and nature.
