Irish television presenter Vogue Williams has candidly discussed a distressing panic attack she suffered during her time on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, which she pleaded with producers to keep off air.
The Jungle Meltdown: Sleep Deprivation Sparks Anxiety
Speaking on her popular podcast, My Therapist Ghosted Me, alongside co-host Joanne McNally, the 40-year-old explained the root cause of her crisis. Williams, who is married to Made In Chelsea's Spencer Matthews, identified severe sleep deprivation as the primary trigger for her escalating anxiety within the camp.
"I'm just crazy about my sleep," Williams disclosed. "And if I don't sleep I get anxious and that's why I worry so much about my sleep." The situation came to a head after a particularly restless night, compounded by the stress of facing a Bushtucker Trial involving cockroaches. Anticipating another sleepless night, her anxiety spiralled.
"I started having an absolute meltdown just lying there like, 'Please sleep, please sleep, please sleep'," she recounted. The anxiety culminated in a full-blown panic attack during a visit to the Bush Telegraph, the jungle's diary room.
Pleading with Producers and Seeking Support
In the midst of her panic, Williams made a direct appeal to the show's crew. "I started having a panic attack. I was like [making out of breath noises] 'Please don't show this because everyone will see how mental I am'. I just couldn't control it and went into full panic mode," she told listeners.
She praised the production team's supportive response, noting they tried to calmly talk her through the episode. The following day, Williams sought professional help from the show's psychologist, Sandra. "I was so panicked that night because my anxiety just hit ninety... I went and spoke to her and she just completely reset me," Williams explained, stating the session left her feeling "totally fine" for the rest of the day.
Reflecting on the Latecomer Experience and Departure
Williams also reflected on the unique challenge of entering the jungle as a latecomer, alongside Celebs Go Dating's Tom Read Wilson. She believes it was "a little bit harder" as the original ten campmates had already forged bonds. Reviewing footage since leaving, she observed, "Oh, they were a bit annoyed that we'd come in."
She clarified that the late entry was not her choice, but she was initially "thrilled" as it meant less time away from her children. Williams, who was the third celebrity to be eliminated last month, left on day thirteen. "Although I was ready to leave. Obviously, I would have stayed longer," she added.
The revelation comes as the current series approaches its climax, with the final four contestants - Tom, Shona McGarty, Aitch, and Angry Ginge - set to face the iconic Celebrity Cyclone trial.
