Asda and Morrisons have urgently removed several pasta salad products from their shelves following a suspected Listeria contamination. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a recall notice for three items produced by Greencore, citing possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes as a precautionary measure.
Shoppers who have purchased any of the affected products are being told not to eat them. Instead, they should return the items to their nearest store for a full refund, with no receipt required. The recall affects specific batches with clear use-by dates and product codes.

- Asda Nacho Cheese Pasta Salad – 500g pack, use by August 9, 2026, product code 5063717198311
- Morrisons Chicken and Bacon Pasta – 300g pack, use by August 7, 2026, product code 5010251790587
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling these products, explaining the reason for the recall and advising customers on what to do if they have bought them.
Health Risks and Symptoms
According to the FSA, symptoms caused by Listeria monocytogenes can resemble flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick, and diarrhoea. In rare cases, the infection can become more severe, leading to serious complications such as meningitis.
Certain groups are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including people over 65, pregnant women and their unborn babies, infants less than one month old, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The NHS notes that listeriosis is a rare infection usually contracted from contaminated chilled, ready-to-eat foods.
