The teenage sister of reality television star Holly Hagan died from multi-organ failure caused by a lethal overdose of the illegal drug MDMA, a coroner's court has heard.
Tragic Night Out at Manchester Club
Darci Rose Gibson, aged 19, fell ill after consuming the Class A substance during a night out at the prominent Warehouse Project nightclub in Manchester. She was rushed to the Manchester Royal Infirmary on October 18 after suffering a cardiac arrest at the venue.
Senior Coroner Zak Golombeck told the hearing that there was an immediate suspicion she had taken illicit drugs, which was later confirmed to clinicians. Despite receiving urgent medical treatment, Darci's condition deteriorated rapidly.
Hospital Treatment and Cause of Death
The young woman remained in hospital for two days but tragically developed multi-organ failure. She passed away at the infirmary on October 20, 2025. A provisional cause of death was recorded as both multi-organ failure and MDMA overdose.
Mr Golombeck stated that toxicology tests performed on Darci's blood and urine conclusively identified "high levels" of MDMA in her system. The coroner read from a statement supplied by a police coroner's officer detailing the sequence of events.
Family's Heartbreaking Tribute
Holly Hagan, the 33-year-old Geordie Shore star, confirmed her younger sister's death in an emotional social media statement in October. She described being "traumatised" but said Darci had "passed away peacefully holding my hand surrounded by my family and her best friends."
In a poignant Instagram tribute, Holly remembered her sister as a beautiful person who was planning a career in social work to help children. "I just know she’s looking after all the babies up there," she wrote. The family's message ended with the words: "We love you so much baby girl. Forever 19."
The full inquest into Darci Gibson's death is pending, but the initial findings have provided a stark and tragic account of the consequences of illegal drug use.
