Man Burns Bum in Firework Stunt as Safety Warnings Ignored
Man burns bum in failed firework stunt

A man has suffered severe burns to his backside after a dangerous stunt involving a firework went drastically wrong in the street.

The Ill-Fated Stunt

Shocking footage circulating on social media shows the moment a bearded man attempted to launch a rocket firework from between his buttocks. In the video, which lasts 1 minute and 23 seconds, the man can be seen bent over while a friend ignites the firework with a lighter.

Rather than launching into the sky as intended, the explosive device detonated on the spot, causing immediate and significant burns to the man's bare skin. Instead of offering assistance, onlookers can be heard laughing hysterically and commenting 'It got stuck in your arse' as the man visibly suffers from the injury.

Alarming Rise in Firework Incidents

This disturbing incident comes alongside concerning new statistics from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), which has revealed that firework-related accidents have increased by 42 per cent.

Latest figures from the Home Office show that 246 such incidents occurred in 2024/2025, a significant rise from 185 in the previous year. RoSPA has described these statistics as highlighting 'a worrying trend' in unsafe firework use.

Official Safety Warnings

Rebecca Guy, senior policy manager at RoSPA, issued a stark warning following the release of these figures. 'Fireworks are powerful explosives, not toys,' she stated. 'Only adults should handle them and never mix alcohol with lighting fireworks. The shocking rise in incidents over the past year is a stark reminder of the dangers they pose when misused.'

The organisation emphasised that human error remained the 'primary factor' in more than 75 per cent of incidents. The footage from Birmingham serves as a graphic example of the consequences when basic safety precautions are ignored.
