OVO Energy has confirmed a 'two hours a week' rule for its customers until August, urging them to act. The energy supplier, which serves Birmingham households, is participating in the Labour Party government's new VAT cuts.
VAT Cuts and Free Electricity Offer
The VAT cuts, masterminded by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, will provide families with VAT discounts on days out and attractions. To assist customers, OVO says customers can claim two hours of free electricity every single week until Sunday, August 2. This is in addition to exclusive discounts of up to 40% with partner brands. Customers can simply opt in weekly via the OVO app and select the time slots that best fit their schedule.
Additional Benefits for OVO Beyond Customers
OVO also announced that OVO Beyond customers can bank 2,400 free EV miles and up to 5 free solar panels through the loyalty programme. As it stands, OVO Beyond customers have banked a total of 35.5 million EV miles and 156,000 solar panels, and unlocked 1.5 million hours of free electricity and approximately 157 million hours of free heat pump heating.
Impact on Football Fans
The news will be particularly welcome to football fans, who will be using electricity into the early hours of the morning during the World Cup in North America, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
