Third Teenager Charged in Smethwick Disorder Investigation

West Midlands Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with two counts of attempted murder following a violent disorder on Foundry Lane in Smethwick on May 26. The incident left two men injured, prompting a major investigation by the force.

The teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, was arrested in south Birmingham on Wednesday, June 24. He faces additional charges of violent disorder and possession of a bladed article. He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 25, where he was remanded in custody.

Police Confirm Multiple Arrests

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: “We’ve charged another teenager with attempted murder, as we continue to investigate disorder in Smethwick last month. The 16-year-old was arrested in the south Birmingham area yesterday, June 24, and has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, violent disorder, and possession of a bladed article. He was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.”

During the arrest, two men aged 37 and 39 were also taken into custody on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. Both were bailed pending further investigation.
