An investigation has been launched after a man's body was discovered in the water at a popular beauty spot in Leicestershire, with police describing the death as unexplained.
Emergency Response to Watermead Country Park
Emergency services were called to the 350-acre Watermead Country Park on Saturday afternoon, July 4, following the grim discovery. Leicestershire Police and paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service arrived at the scene after receiving a call at approximately 2:28 pm.
The man's body was quickly retrieved from the water. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, according to Leicestershire Live.
Police Investigation Underway
Leicestershire Police have confirmed that the death is being treated as unexplained while officers continue their enquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. At this stage, the man's identity and age have not been released to the public, as reported by the Mirror.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Police received a call at 2.28pm today (Saturday 4 July) regarding a report of a body in the water at Watermead Country Park. Officers attended at the location and the body of a man was removed a short time after. Colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance also attended and the man was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained as enquiries continue."
