Hucknall residents are being invited to shape how a £20 million government funding pot will be spent in their town over the next decade, with a £50 gift card on offer for those who take part in the initial consultation.
The new public survey marks the first step in developing Hucknall's 10-year 'Pride in Place' investment plan. Local people, business owners, and workers are being urged to share their vision for the area to ensure the multi-million-pound cash injection is targeted where it is needed most.
Survey details and how to take part
Feedback gathered during this initial consultation will be used to generate a fresh wave of community-focused projects and initiatives. These ideas will then be put back to the public in a second survey, giving residents a direct and ongoing voice before the Hucknall Neighbourhood Board turns the most popular proposals into reality.
The survey is available on the Council's website until September 18, 2026. Paper copies can be completed at Hucknall Leisure Centre (Linby Road), Under One Roof (Vine Terrace), Hucknall Family Hub (formerly Butlers Hill Children's Centre, Broomhill Road), Hucknall Library (South Street), and St Peter and St Paul's Church (Ruffs Drive).
Funding breakdown and project themes
The Hucknall Pride in Place fund is 63 per cent capital funding, which can be used to improve or build new buildings and community facilities, and 37 per cent revenue funding, which can cover services, running costs, resources, and voluntary groups.
Projects must align with one of three government themes: Creating Thriving Places (making Hucknall a better place to live, work and visit), Building Stronger Communities (helping people feel connected, supported and proud of Hucknall), and Local Voice and Control (giving residents more say in local decisions and priorities).
Community leaders call for participation
Chair of the Neighbourhood Board, Paddy Tipping, said: “This is a great opportunity for Hucknall and its residents. Their views are vital in deciding how best to use this new money. I know there are lots of ideas out there so please submit them as soon as possible. Working together we can make a real difference.”
Vice-Chair Rachael Burn added: “I would encourage anyone who lives and/or works in Hucknall to have their say. Hucknall is a wonderful town, with great people and enormous potential. I look forward to hearing from our community about what matters most to them and working together to shape a positive vision for Hucknall's future.”
Cllr John Wilmott, Ward Councillor for Hucknall North, said: “We are encouraging everyone in Hucknall to complete this survey to make sure that their priorities are heard. This funding is a huge opportunity for Hucknall and we want to make sure this investment is spent in the places that really need it.”
Roles within the Neighbourhood Board and focus groups are currently being considered by the Chair and Vice-Chair after an open call for applications in July. Successful applicants will be contacted in the coming weeks, with the first board meeting due to take place in early September.
